***Scenario:
You have some college, enlist, and come in as an E3 (Private First Class.)
Basic Training is about 8-weeks, AIT (skill) training is about 8-weeks
Pay for those weeks - approx $5,010.70
plus 1/2 the enlistment bonus ($10,000)
plus your student loan paid-off $18,500 (example)
In that time, the Maine Army National Guard
has paid out about
$33,510 to you. Not Bad!

Did you know, once you join the Maine Army National Guard you can
also apply for full time Guard positions in the state?
These folks work generally an 8-4 job, 5 days a week,
and also drill with their
unit once a month. Jobs include mechanics, office personnel,
Drug interdiction units, team building members that go to
high schools,
medical personnel, and many more.

and includes base pay for Private First Class,
plus family seperation and BAH for those with dependants and a
rental/mortgage agreement.

Terms, definitions, and disclaimers
* BAH: Basic Allowance for Quarters, or what the army pays you if
you own a home or pay rent.
The BAH rate above is with dependents, meaning you have dependents living
in the
house/apartment you left behind (Monthly BAH (with dependant)
$593.40 + 3.4% = $613.47).
Every 2-weeks: The Army pays by direct deposit into your bank account
on the
1st and 15th of each month, generally.
Weekend Drill Pay: This is for a MUTA 5 (Friday night, Saturday and Sunday).
Most drills are Saturday and Sunday only, on one weekend each month.
If you have to report on
Friday night, you get paid more.
